Job Title: High Voltage Design Engineer
Salary:
Senior HV Engineer: $130,000 – $160,000
Principal/Lead Engineer: $150,000 – $200,000
Key Responsibilities:
Managing projects related to high voltage infrastructure development, from initial design to final commissioning.
Creating detailed electrical designs for high voltage equipment and systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, and transmission lines.
Choosing appropriate high voltage components and materials, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
Determining appropriate insulation levels and clearances to prevent electrical breakdown and ensure safety.
Conducting various high voltage tests on equipment and systems to verify their performance and compliance with standards.
Identifying and resolving issues related to high voltage equipment and systems in the field.
Designing and optimizing high voltage transmission and distribution networks.
Designing and implementing substation layouts, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
Designing and specifying high voltage cables for transmission and distribution applications.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Specialised knowledge of high voltage engineering.
Proficiency in electrical design software, simulation tools, and modeling techniques.
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop effective solutions.
Knowledge of industry standards for high voltage equipment and systems.
