Job title: Radiographer

Role: Permanent/Full Time


Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and clean up machines, equipment, work area, required to perform tasks

  • Develop techniques as required

  • May be required to work outside department

  • Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards, assisting physicians, responsible for delegating areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures, may be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and ancillary personnel

  • Will be required to teach imaging students or specialty

  • Will be required to teach imaging students or appropriate Hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment, in accordance with the guidelines and teaching objectives of the department

  • Radiographer performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology

  • Regulates the equipment used to produce and process images

  • Assists in the daily operation of the Radiology department

  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and medical staff

Applicant Qualifications & Requirements

The FRANZCR qualification; or an international postgraduate medical qualification in diagnostic and interventional radiology, where your combination of qualifications, training and experience will be assessed against the standard of FRANZCR.

  • 2 years of general medical experience

  • 5 years of radiodiagnosis training, including:

  • 3 years of general radiology training

  • 2 years of systems-focused rotations for advanced radiology training, including:

  • medical training, which covers patient care and safety, report writing, key conditions in early training, applied imaging technology, radiological anatomy and normal variants, pathology, abdominal imaging, chest imaging, neuro imaging, head and neck imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, paediatric imaging, breast imaging, obstetric and gynaecological imaging and vascular imaging and intervention

  • non-medical training, which covers teamwork, communication skills, patient support and advocacy, management and administrative skills, professionalism and research and education.
